ICSE and ISC: With CISCE declaring the ICSE and ISC result 2019 today on their official website - cisce.org, students are anxious to lay their hands on the same. The ICSE 10th result 2019 and ISC 12th result 2019 will be declared in the online mode. Although people are mostly aware, yet there is a possibility that some might be confused as to what is the difference between ICSE and ISC. ICSE stands for Indian Certificate of Secondary Education while ISC stands for Indian School Certificate. Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations or CISCE is the body responsible for conducting both ICSE and ISC exam as well as declaration of their results. ICSE and ISC curriculum have been designed for different grades and that’s where the difference actually lies.
ICSE is the examination conducted by CISCE for students of the 10th standard. The subjects under ICSE curriculum are divided into two parts majorly. Part 1 comprises courses such as socially useful productive work, physical education, education in Moral and Spiritual Values, Art and a third language from Classes V to VIII class at least. Students are required to have mandatorily completed these courses. The Part II curriculum of ICSE comprises of two Groups – 1 and 2. Group 1 consists compulsory subjects like English, History, a second language, Civics and Geography. In addition to these, students need to choose from any two of the subjects from Science, Mathematics, Economics, Technical drawing, Commercial studies, a classical language, a modern foreign language, Computer science, Agriculture science and Environment science. Group 2 comprises subjects such as Computer applications, Commercial application and Economic application. Of these subjects in Group 2, students are required to choose any one of the subject. Both in Groups 1 and 2, the weightage of external and internal assessment is in the ratio of 80:20.
CISCE conducts the ISC examination for students in standard 12th. In ISC examination, the subjects included are English which is compulsory along with a list of elective subjects. The elective subjects include Sociology, Geography, History, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Home Science, etc. All students must mandatorily appear for their English examination while the number of electives may vary between three, four and five. The ISC result is based on the external examination conducted by the end of Class 12. The ISC result also takes into account internal assessment on Socially Useful Productive Work and Community.
The ICSE syllabus designed for students in 10th standard includes a vast range of subjects which provides abundant information and knowledge to the students. On the other hand ISC syllabus is structured for students in 12th standard providing them with deep insights to the subjects. ISC 12th exam is of much importance as the results obtained in the ISC examination accounts for admissions to colleges for various courses of study. The syllabus for both ICSE and ISC examination has been crafted with great attention to detail providing students with one of the best curriculums in the country.
