JEE Main, NEET 2020 Update: The National Testing Agency is expected to soon announce a decision on conducting JEE Main and NEET 2020. As CBSE decided to cancel the pending 10th and 12th Board exams 2020 in SC hearing today while also allowing the Class 12 Board exams to remain optional, NEET 2020 and JEE Main 2020 candidates can also expect postponement of the exams. The MHRD had already announced the schedule for JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 earlier. According to the schedule, JEE Main 2020 is scheduled from July 18 to 23, 2020, while the NEET 2020 will be conducted on July 26, 2020. With the rising number of cases of COVID-19 in major cities like Delhi and Mumbai, the dates for the Engineering and Medical entrance examinations are likely to be re-considered. Details of NTA updates on NEET and JEE Main 2020 will be made available here.
Students, Parents Demand Cancellation of JEE Main, NEET Exams
Media reports have also hinted that the as of now, HRD Ministry has not announced the complete cancellation of the pending examination because of the impact it will have on the competitive entrance exams such as JEE Main 2020 and NEET UG 2020 which are lined up to be held in late July 2020. Few students and parents have already raised voices for cancellation of entrance exams as well and to grant admissions to the students based on merit positions. However, that might be unfair for few students.
Decision on JEE Main, NEET 2020 Exam To Be Based on SC Verdict
Reports indicate that, HRD Minister and officials have held multiple consultative meetings with officials from Ministry, CBSE Board and NTA i.e. National Testing Agency. A common theme which has emerged during these meeting has been centred around the fact that SC verdict on pending Board exams will have a large impact on the competitive examinations. Therefore, any decision about pending NEET 2020 and JEE Main 2020 Exams will be taken only after a final order is passed by the Supreme Court today.
