JEE Main, NEET 2020 On Schedule: As per the latest notification published by NTA, JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 entrance exams are scheduled to be held as per the schedule announced earlier by the agency. The clarification regarding the JEE Main and NEET 2020 exam dates comes following rising chorus for postponement of the entrance tests in the light of COVID-19 situation. To assure students about NEET 2020 and JEE Main 2020 not being postponed, the apex testing agency released a detailed notification providing the necessary details including important statistics about the upcoming entrance exam. As per the schedule, JEE Main 2020 engineering entrance exam is scheduled to be held from 1st to 6th Sept 2020. On the other hand, NEET 2020 medical entrance exam will be held on 13th Sept 2020. There has been no change in the exam schedule or the dates for the entrance exam by the apex testing agency.

Exam Centres Increased
To assure, candidates, their parents and general stakeholders who are demanding postponement of the NEET and JEE Main 2020 exam; the NTA’s notification provides information about the various steps planned by it for the safe conduct of the test. One of the important steps in this direction has been increase in the number of test centres for the entrance exam, which will aid in ensuring social distancing among the candidates appearing for the exam. The details about he increase in the number of test centres for JEE Main and NEET 2020 are given below:

In line with the plan to promote social distancing and ensure that overcrowding doesn’t happen at the exam centre during JEE Main 2020 exam; the total number of shifts in which the exams were scheduled to be held has also been increased. This has led to decrease in the number of candidates appearing for the entrance exam in every shift. For JEE Main exam, number of shifts have been increased from 8 to 12 whereas students appearing for exam per shift has gone down from 1.35 lakh earlier to around 85,000 approx.
99% of Candidates Exam Centre Allotted in Preferred Cities
Another important step that has been initiated by the National Testing Agency is regarding allotment of test cities to the students. Taking into account the concerns of candidates who might have moved cities or may have shifted to their hometown during the lockdown; NTA allowed students to edit the exam city allotted to them and pick the one that was preferred by them to appear for the exam. In line with this, 99% of the candidates have been allotted exam city as per their preferred choice. This will eliminate the need for candidates to travel to other cities to appear for the entrance exam.
