JIPMER MBBS 2019: Entrance exam to be conducted today, check details here

The Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry is all set to conduct JIPMER MBBS entrance exam 2019 today in 120 cities across India. Know important details here. 

The JIPMER MBBS Entrance Exam 2019 is being conducted by the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry, today i.e. on June 2 in 120 cities across India. Candidates appearing for the examination today can download the admit card from the official website of the institute. 

 The entrance exam will be conducted in the computer-based test format or online mode. It is necessary for students to carry their JIPMER MBBS Admit Card 2019 to the examination hall without which they will not be allowed to appear for the exam. More than 1.5 lakh candidates have registered for the JIPMER MBBS Entrance Exam 2019. The exam will be conducted for admission to 200 seats (150 seats at Puducherry campus and 50 seats at Karaikal campus).

 Apart from the JIPMER MBBS Admit Card 2019, students will also have to carry a valid identity proof. Students are advised to reach examination centre on time because biometric verification, taking digital photograph and fingerprint will be done before the exam. The institute has also directed students to not carry barred items including mobile phones, smart/programmable watches, calculators, log books, geometry box, head gear, hair band, belt etc to the examination centre. Also, there will no arrangement of baggage counter facility at the exam centre.

This year, the institute has introduced a lot of changes in JIPMER MBBS Entrance Exam. The qualifying marks have been lowered to 50% from 60% for students belonging to General and EWS category. Also, candidates who belong to reserved categories need to score 40% marks instead of 50% which was the benchmark last year.

The institute has also introduced 10% reservation for candidates belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category. As a result, Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research has reserved 13 seats out of 200 for candidates belonging to low-income groups. Of the total 13 reserved seats, 10 seats will be available at the JIPMER, Puducherry campus while the remaining 3 seats will be available at the Karaikal campus.
