JNU to conduct a Week-Long 'Swami Vivekananda Youth Festival' annually, Check details here

Jawaharlal Nehru University will be conducting a week long ‘Swami Vivekananda Youth Festival. The decision to conduct the programme annually was taken at the executive council meeting conducted. Check details here.

According to an official notification released on the official website, the Jawaharlal Nehru University will be conducting a week-long ‘Swami Vivekananda Youth Festival. The university will be conducting the week-long Swami Vivekananda Youth Festival which will include Sports, Cultural events, Technical Festivals, Exhibitions, Academic Events like lecture series, Seminar, Conference, Debate and discussions will be conducted for students participating. 

Programme to be conducted annually 

The university conducted its 250th Executive meeting on November 25, 2020, in which it was unanimously decided that from now on a Swami Vivekananda Memorial Lecture will be held every year on January 12, 2020 - the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. 

JNU Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar stated that the week-long youth festival will help in immortalizing the message, thoughts and visions of Swami Vivekanand and spread his teachings among the JNU community especially the students of the university. 

The JNU Executive Council has also passed a resolution to continue to constitute a committee to develop the academic research programmes on Swami Vivekananda. 

Statue unveiling of Swami Vivekananda

JNU recently conducted an unveiling ceremony of the life-size statue of Swami Vivekananda on the university campus. The statue was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 12, 2020. The unveiling was done via video conferencing.

JNU Convocation

The Jawaharlal Nehru University recently conducted the convocation ceremony on November 18, 220, with President Ram Nath Kovind attending the ceremony as the chief guest. Almost 600 PhD degrees were awarded to the graduating students.
