The Kerala State Government is reported to report the schools in the state from June 1, 2020, onwards considering the situation in the state is under control. The school students in the state will be required to wear face masks in the upcoming academic year in the state to avoid any kind of contraction to the disease. Reports also suggest that the state government of Kerala has launched an online teacher training programme for the teachers to help them conduct online classes for the students.
Online Teacher Training Programme
The Kerala State Education Department has launched an online teacher training programme to be attended by all the teachers of the state. The programme has been launched with an aim to equip the teachers in case the situation in the state does not return back to normal by the end of the month forcing the teachers to conduct classes online for the students from June 1, 2020. The Department has also directed that all the students are required to attend the classes online.
Masks necessary even if schools reopen
Kerala State Health Minister KK Shailaja has earlier set some guidelines with regard to re-opening the schools in the state. The minister has stated that covering the nose and mouth will not go on endlessly but as a precautionary measure against the COVID-19 infection, students are required to wear a mask in the next academic session.
Schools to remain closed until last week of May 2020
According to the present situation, the schools in Kerala will remain closed until the last week of May 2020 as part of the summer vacation or the students. The state has also announced the dates for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations. According to the dates provided by the state government, the class 10 and 12 board examinations are scheduled to be conducted from May 21 to 29, 2020. It is also reported that the class 11 examinations will also be conducted during the schedule provided. The nation-wide lockdown will continue until May 17, 2020
