The celebrations for the four-day Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan commemorated with Union HRD Minister inaugurating the KVS “Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat Parv” a mega cultural and literary youth extravaganza. The event is meant to highlight and celebrate India’s Unity in Diversity and is an effort to preserve the widespread emotional bonds among the people of our country. The event which was inaugurated at Lawn No. 6 of India Gate, New Delhi, began with an alluring Shobha Yatra, a cultural march by the participants to showcase the vision behind this celebration. The Yatra was also accompanied by song, dance and artifacts in the background
The event marks the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. The theme of the event for the first day was – Fit India. Among other events of the first day include competitions such as - group dance of different states and countries, theatre on pertinent issues, quiz, creative writing, spelling bee, debates, painting and solo song.
Prominent attendees for the event included MoS for HRD Sh. Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre as Guest of Honour. Ms. Anita Karwal, Chairperson, CBSE along with senior officials of HRD ministry, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.
Participation of Students & Teachers
KVS is celebrating the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’ Parv as a means to promote and inspire students to celebrate the spirit of ‘Unity in Diversity’ that is eponymous with India. During the event, students from KVS Schools will showcase their communication & artistic skills by participating in various competitions, exhibitions and cultural events. Apart from students, ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’ Parv will also provide a unique platform to teachers through which they will be able to exhibit their talents in performing and visual arts.

Inter-State Cultural Activities
As part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’ Parv, KVS Schools from all 25 regions have been paired with a different state and a country, other than their own. During the Parv, students form different regions will exhibit culture, customs, dress, agriculture, industry, economy, climate & topography etc of the state and country allotted to them, thereby reinvigorating the spirit of ‘Unity in Diversity’. Students will participate in different competitions at various levels i.e. at Vidyalaya/ Cluster & Region, before getting to the national stage.

Shobha Yatra / Cultural March Past
The opening and closing ceremony of Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat Parv will be marked by a Shobha Yatra during which students will exhibit brief displays about unique cultural facets of different states in India. The Shobha Yatra will include:
- 20 second introduction in language of the assigned state
- 40 second song and dance display of the assigned state
- Exhibition of cultural artefacts in background
The Shobha Yatra for Opening Ceremony of Parv will be presented by students from Delhi Region for all the states. while for Closing Ceremony, the Shobha Yatra will be presented by all regions as per their paired states.
Competitive Events
The following competitive events are planned as part of the Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat Parv:
- Group Dance: Students from one of the paired states will perform dances of their counterpart states.
- Group Song: Students from one of the paired states will present songs of their counterpart states.
- On the spot painting: Themes of paired statesto be given on the day of the competition.
- Solo Song: Folk songs of the paired state.
- Quiz –Quiz on the paired state. Thus there will be 12 winners for 12 pairs of states.
- Display of Artefacts/Project: Students will display exhibits and artefacts bringing out the rich cultural essence of the paired state.
- English Elocution: Students will be given topics related to the state allotted.
- Creative Writing: Students to write about assigned aspect of the paired state.
- Story Telling: Students will relate folk lore and stories of prominent writers of the state allotted.
- Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat Bhasha Sangam: Students of one of the paired states will speak, write and display 100 sentences in the language of the counterpart state.
Exhibition
During the Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat Parv, Theme based Exhibition will also be held for all the four days of the event. HRD Ministry has outlined four contemporary themes on which exhibitions will be put up as part of the festival. Each region will be preparing two exhibits per theme out of which best will be displayed. The themes are as follows:
