Maharashtra Exams 2024: According to reports, the Maharashtra School Education and Sports Department has revoked the no-fail policy for students from classes 5 and 8. As per reports, Maharashtra schools will now be able to conduct the annual exams for the students.
According to the government resolution students appearing for classes 5 and 8 exams are required to secure a minimum of 35% marks to clear the annual exams. According to the resolution, the exams will be conducted in the second week of April 2024.
Those who fail in one or more subjects can appear for the Vidarbha region which will be conducted in the second week of June. For the rest of the state, however, the class 5 and 8 compartment exams will be held in the first week of June.
The state government amended the Right to Education Act of 2009 as per the central government guidelines in June. According to the amendment made, students will be detailed in the same class if they fail the class 5 and class 8 exams.
Class 5 and 8 Question Paper
The Maharashtra board class 5 question paper of each subject will be for 50 marks. 10 marks will be allotted for oral exams. The question paper for the class 8 exams will be for a total of 60 marks with 10 marks allotted for the oral exam.
Class 5 students will be appearing for three language exams, mathematics and environmental studies 1 and 2. Students from class 8 will be appearing in three languages, mathematics, sciences, and social sciences. The department has stated that the question paper will be set by the schools and sample questions will be provided to assist teachers in preparing the question paper.
