NIRF Rankings 2021: National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has released NIRF rankings 2021 in different categories. Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan released the rankings. IIT Madras, IISc Bengaluru and IIT Bombay are among the top 3 colleges in the overall category. The list has been announced for eleven categories: overall, university, management, college, pharmacy, medical, engineering, architecture, law, and research. A new category, Research Institutions, has been added to NIRF Rankings 2021. This year every large institution has been given in common overall NIRF Rankings 2021 as well as a discipline-specific rank as applicable. The number of Indian institutes registered for the NIRF ranking 2020 had increased by 20 per cent as compared to 2019. In 2020, a total of 3,800 institutes had participated in NIRF Rankings.
The detailed list of educational institutions in different categories is now available at nirfindia.org. The rankings are released annually to recognize top universities, colleges and educational institutions across the country. In the universities category, the Indian Institute of Science, IISc Bangalore retained the top slot. The Ministers when announcing the rankings for the individual categories also emphasized the importance of Research in the country due to which a special category for ranking institutions that excel in research was created.

NIRF India Ranking 2021 Parameters
The NIRF India Ranking 2021 of universities and colleges are based on these six parameters - teaching, learning and resources (TLR), research and professional practice (RP), graduation outcomes (GO), outreach and inclusivity (OI), peer perception. NIRF rankings are released annually to recognize top universities, colleges and other educational institutions across India. NIRF was first accepted by the Ministry of Education and launched by the honourable Minister for Education on 29th September 2015.
Last year's NIRF Rankings
Last year, the NIRF rankings were released on June 11 by former education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. IIT Madras was ranked first under the overall NIRF India rankings 2020, followed by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru and IIT Delhi. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) were also among the non-IITs in the top ten NIRF ranking list 2020.
