Odisha Colleges to Reopen for Final Year UG / PG students from 11th January - Get Complete Details Here

Odisha Colleges Reopening News: As per the latest update, the Odisha Higher Education Department has announced that Degree Colleges in the state would be reopening for final year students for both undergraduate as well as postgraduate level students from 11th January 2021. The Department issued a formal notification on Sunday, confirming the commencement of physical classes for degree colleges and open universities.

Decision Considering Huge Academic Loss

The decision to reopen colleges for final year students was taken by the state government keeping in mind the huge academic loss that was hurting the academic progress of students. Colleges in the state have been closed since March 2020 after the outbreak of the pandemic. Moreover, the recent improvement in the COVID-19 situation in the state coupled with the steadily reducing COVID cases, helped students to consider the decision about reopening of colleges.

Official Notification Released

To confirm the development, the Odisha Higher Education Department released a detailed notification providing information about the college reopening for final year students. The notification reads “the state public universities and government as well as non-government degree colleges coming under higher education department are hereby directed to commence physical classroom teaching of 2020-21 final year UG/PG courses from 11^th January.

Tentative Schedule for Exams Released

With the start of the colleges and in-classroom training of students, the Higher Education Department has also notified the schedule for upcoming exams and results for penultimate and final semester tests. As per the schedule, the classes of penultimate semester will be held between 11^th January and 15^th March 2021, whereas the exam for current semester will be held between 16^th March and 31^st March 2021. Results for this exam would be announced by 30^th April 2021.

Following this, physical classes for final semester would be held between 2^nd April and 15^th June 2021. Following this, the exam for final year students would be held between 16^th to 30^th June 2021. The Results for final semester would be declared by 15^th July 2021.
