Sharda School of Media, Film, and Entertainment of Sharda University will organise a national seminar on January 22, 2025, in association with Jagran New Media. The topic of the seminar is 'Al in Combating Misinformation: Advancing Fact Checking Practices'.
The program will start at 10 AM at Anand Swaroop Auditorium, Block 45, Sharda University. It will be held in a hybrid mode, with participants able to attend in person or virtually.
Objective of the Seminar
The objective of this seminar is to discuss the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and fact-checking technology in combating fake news and misinformation in the digital age. Experts will present the latest research, ideas, and solutions on this topic in this forum. The event will also feature a special workshop by fact checkers of Google News Initiative (GNI), where participants will be given hands-on training on how to identify misinformation and use effective methods to counter it.
Notable Guests in the Seminar
Many distinguished speakers will share their experiences and expertise in the program. These include Subin Sudhir, Associate Dean and Professor of Marketing at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore, Dr Tavapreetesh Sethi, founding head of the Center of Excellence in Healthcare at IIT Delhi; Swapnil Mehta, founder of Simple (Cambridge, MA); and Santosh K Patra, who is the chairperson of MICA's media, entertainment and sports business division. Apart from this, participants, and researchers can also present their research papers in this seminar.
The event will be led by the Dean of Sharda School of Media, Film and Entertainment, Prof (Dr.) Ritu S Sood, and Rajesh Upadhyay, Editor-in-Chief and Executive President of Jagran New Media. Dr. Shishir Kumar Singh has been included as convenor. The organising committee will include Dr. Mukta Martolia, Dr. Shrinkhla Upadhyay, and Dr. Sonali Srivastava.
