About OTET 2016, Odisha TET 2016

Abbreviated as OTET, the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test/ Odisha TET is conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Odisha (BSE Odisha) every year to include newer talents into the teaching sector of the State. The examination recruits graduates and diploma holders as teachers in various government run schools of the State. Details of the examination will be released at bseodisha.nic.in.


OTET 2016 notification will be released soon! Teaching job aspirants with required eligibility criteria should prepare themselves for the examination. The examination is most likely to be held in the later part of the year. Online applications must be sent to bseodisha.nic.in.

Odisha Board of Secondary Education is exam conducting body of the OTET 2016. The examination will comprise of two papers: Paper I (for Class I-V) and Paper II (for Class VI-VIII). Candidates should note that all the details are as per the previous year trend, new changes, if any will be updated here.

 

Odisha TET 2016 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates are required to meet the educational qualification prescribed by the Board. There are two papers in the examination and accordingly the eligibility criterion varies according to each of the paper.
Paper I (for teachers of Class I-V): Candidates must have Higher Secondary (+2 or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education / 2 years Diploma in Education (Special Education) approved by RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India)/ Graduation with 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education / 2 years Diploma in Special Education approved by RCI.

Paper II (for teachers of Class VI-VIII): Candidates must have Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks with 1 year Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.)/ 1 year B.Ed. (Special Education) approved by RCI/Higher Secondary (+2 or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 years B.A. Ed./ B.Sc. Ed. (integrated course).

In addition to the basic eligibility criteria mentioned above, aspirants should take care of few other important things related to Odisha TET 2016:

  • Relaxation of 5% in qualifying marks in +2 or at the graduation level, as the case may be; shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/ SEBC category.
  • Candidates who are pursuing (Final Year) of any of the teacher education courses (recognized by NCTE or by the RCI as the case may be) specified above, in both the categories can also appear.
  • Untrained candidates, only belonging to SC, ST & PH category having required percentage of marks (5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks in +2 or Graduation Level as the case may be, for the candidates belonging to SC, ST categories) shall be eligible.

 

Odisha TET 2016 Application Process

Candidates are required to send their application online at the official portal of BSE Odisha. The following will help to fill up the application form with ease:

  • Go to the official portal at bseodisha.nic.in
  • Navigate to the page relevant to OTET 2016
  • Enter the relevant paper (paper I or paper II)
  • Pay the required application fee only through SBI challan generated from the website
  • Get the e-mail and SMS regarding his / her registration number and password
  • Print the application form for future use

 

OTET 2016 Exam Schedule

Exact date has not been ascertained yet, but as per the last year trend is the examination might be held in the second part of the year. OTET admit cards will be released much before the examination to make examinees well aware of the exam timing and venue.

 

Odisha TET Exam Question Paper Pattern

The OTET Exam 2016 will be of 2.5 hours. The question paper will be objective type based. While the question paper of the non-language subjects will be in Odia and English, candidates have to choose any one of the following language for language-I, in both paper; i.e. Odia, Hindi, Telugu, Urdu and Bengali. The Language II question paper will be in English.

The questions to be asked in the paper-II will be based on the topics of the prescribed syllabus of the state for Class VI to VIII but their difficulty standard as well as linkages could be up to senior stage like senior secondary/ higher secondary /+2 stage

Odisha TET 2016 Previous Years Question Papers

OTET Result 2016

The OTET result will be declared towards the beginning of the next year in 2017. Exact dates will be updated here as and when declared by the Board. Candidates should note that after the declaration of the OTET Result the validity period of OTET qualifying certificate / mark sheet shall be a period of 07 years from the date of OTET Exam.
Candidates should note that the minimum pass mark in each paper is 60%. A person securing 60% or more in a paper shall be considered OTET Pass. In case of SC, ST, PH, OBC/ SEBC candidate, the minimum pass mark shall be 50%. There shall be no restriction on the number of attempts a person can make for acquiring OTET qualifying certificate. A person who has qualified in Odisha TET may also appear again for improving his / her score
