Near about 22 lakh jobs are to be generated in Kolkata; bulk of these to be from micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME).
Amit Mitra, the Finance Minister has set a target of generating 22 lakh jobs in the State. He further added that majority of the vacancy will be created by MSME. The Finance Minister proposed these while presenting the Annual Budget in the Assembly.
Mitra said that MSME sector is labour intensive and bank funding to the sector has increased in the last five years. The State government is planning to boost the MSME sector and aims at promoting engineering and textile products. The State government is implementing new strategy for promoting its export policy.
