Q: I am 29 years old guy and belong to General category. Can I apply for both JRF and Lectureship in UGC NET examination to be held in the month of June 2013?
A: You can apply for Lectureship only as there is no upper age limit for taking up National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC. You can’t apply for JRF as the upper age limit for it is 28 years as on 1 June 2013. However, SC/ST/ PWD/ OBC (Non-creamy layer, according to the Central list of OBC available on website www.ncbc.nic.in) categories candidates and women applicants of your age can apply as relaxation up to 5 years is given to them.
If you are having research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/related subject of PG degree, you can also get the age relaxation subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from apt authority OR If you possess LLM degree, three years of age relaxation will be permitted.
