The Bihar Public Service Commission is a Constitutional Body that came into existence from 1st April 1949 after its separation from the Commission for the States of Orissa and Madhya Pradesh. Its constitutional status was pronounced with the promulgation of Constitution of India on 26th January, 1950. The Commission initially operated/functioned for the State of Bihar with its headquarters at Ranchi. Later, the State Government shifted the headquarters to Patna on 1st March 1951.
The Bihar Public Service Commission was constituted with a Chairman and 10 other members. The strength of members was reduced to 6 after division of Bihar into two different states: Bihar and Jharkhand.
The Bihar Public Service Commission invited applications for filling up 6 vacant posts of Reporter (Grade-II) in Bihar Secretariat. Interested candidates can send their applications to “The Controller of Examination” by 30 October 2012.

Pay Scale: PB-2 Rs.9300-34800 + Grade Pay Rs.4200
Age Limits (as on 01 April 2011):
Minimum: 18 years
Maximum: 37 years.

Rs.125 (Rs.75 + Rs.50 Bank Charge) (for SC/ST candidates of Bihar only)
Rs.350 (Rs.300 + Rs.50 Bank Charge) (for General candidates & SC/ST candidates of all other states)
Fee has to be through a fee payment challan in any branch of State Bank of India. The challan can be downloaded from Commission’s website

[Candidates should retain candidate’s copy of the challan with themselves and send the BPSC copy to the Commission office along with the application form.]

Educational Qualification:
•    Graduate or equivalent.  
•    Shorthand speed (Hindi): 150-180 words per minute
•    Shorthand speed (English): 100 words per minute
•    Type Speed (Hindi & English): 35 words per minute

Application procedure:

Applications, in the prescribed format, along with attested copies of required documents and BPSC copy of Fee payment challan should be sent to “The Controller of Examination, Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), 15, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg (Belly Road), Patna-800001” so as to reach the office on or before the last date.
On the application envelope candidates should super-scribe Advertisement No. and Name of the post applied for.

Selection Procedure:
Selection would be done on the basis of candidate’s performance in Shorthand/Stenography Test and Typing Test.
Only those candidates who would clear the Shorthand/Stenography Test would be allowed to appear for the Typing Test.
