May 19, 2015, 16:37 IST

In this video we will learn about the perfectly elastic collision.

In this video we will learn about the perfectly elastic collision.

• For perfectly elastic collision:
  a) The coefficient of restitution is 1
  b) It follows the law of conservation of Linear momentum
  c) The kinetic energy remains conserved
  d) Total energy also remains conserved
• The relation between velocity of approach and the velocity of separation for perfectly elastic collision, this approach is used to solve numerical like:
  a) How much the energy will be transferred from one body to another body during the perfectly elastic collision?
  b) What percentage of kinetic energy is retained by the first body
• If the masses of bodies are identical, then the velocities will interchange.
  a) v1 = u2 and v2 = u1
