Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission State Service Main (Written) Exam 2012 is scheduled to be conducted from 22 March 2014. The CGPSC State Services Main Exam consists of 7 papers each of 200 marks and 3 hours duration.
Paper IV of the exam consists of Science, Technology and Environment sections. The questions asked in the exam are of conventional essay type.
The Science section consists of following three sections: Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The questions are basic school level ones, which can be tackled by going through the NCERT Science books from Class 6 to 12.

In Biology section, the questions can be related to topics like basic life processes such as photosynthesis, respiration; important plant and animal nutrients; Human body, its parts and processes, various body hormones, etc.
In Physics section, questions can be asked related to basic topics like X-rays, Energy, Matter, Light, Sound, Renewable and non renewable sources of energy, and applied aspects of Physics concepts.
In Chemistry section, the candidates should focus on school level topics like Acid and bases, pH, exothermic and endothermic reactions, mineral ores, fossil fuels, etc.
In Science and technology section, the focus should remain on the applications of various scientific principles in day to day life. Questions can also be asked related to computers and the various concepts and advancements related to them. Newspapers can be the best source for getting knowledge about latest developments in Science and technology.
The Environment section has also been included in this paper. Keeping in mind the importance of this topic at the national and international level, the Environment section has been given the much needed importance in the exam. The questions can be related to Environment related problems and issues like pollution related to land, water and air, environment friendly technologies, important environment related organisations at state, national and international level basic terms related to ecosystem and biosphere, etc. The best source for reading this topic is the newspapers and the internet.
