CIFNET Admission 2012 to Bachelor of Fishery Science (Nautical Science)

Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training (CIFNET) is a marine studies centre located at Kochi, India to aid research and development in the field. It is maintained by the Fisheries department of the Government of India. It invites applications from interested and eligible candidates for the course mentioned below for the year 2012

Name and Duration of the Course for Admission in CIFNET

Bachelor of Fishery Science (Nautical Science): 4 year (8 semesters) with integrated practicals & on board training on ocean going fishing vessels

Important Dates for Admission in CIFNET

• Last date for receiving the filled in application: 18 May 2012
• Date of the Entrance test: 10 June 2012
• Date of the interview: 16 July 2012
• Date of commencement of the course: 23 July 2012

Eligibility Conditions for Admission in CIFNET

• Educational Qualification: 10 + 2 with 50% marks in Maths and 50% aggregate marks in other science subjects and also minimum 50% marks in English either in 10th or +2 std

Note: In the case of SC/ST students only a pass is required in the qualifying examination with the above subjects

• Age Limit (as 1 October 2012): Minimum 17 years; Maximum 20 years

Selection Procedure for Admission in CIFNET

Admission through CET: Candidates will be selected on their performance based on Common Entrance Test (conducted by CIFNET at Kochi), Academic performance in qualifying examination and interview. All applicants (except students sponsored by NRI & Foreign Nationals) who wish to undergo BFSc (NS) programme with CIFNET have to appear for a Common Entrance Test at CIFNET, Fine Arts Avenue, Kochi -16. The Common Entrance Test will be of objective type, which covers the topics of Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English language

How to Apply for Admission in CIFNET

• Application from and Prospectus can be obtained by Post from the Director, CIFNET, Fine Arts Avenue, Kochi-682016, by sending a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Senior Administrative Officer, CIFNET, payable at Ernakulam and a self-addressed envelope of A4 size, with stamp worth Rs 15 affixed
• Application form and Prospectus can be had in person from the Institute Head Quarters at Kochi and CIFNET Units at Chennai (59, SN Chetty Street, Royapuram, Chennai-600013) and Visakhapatnam (Beach Road, Visakhapatnam-530001)
• The filled applications (in the prescribed forms) along with the attested copies of certificates in respect of qualification, including mark list of 10th & 12th Standard Examination, Age and Community Certificate (in the case of SC/ST/OEC Candidates) and two self-addressed (Unstamped) envelopes of size 25cms x 11cms. should reach the Director, Central Institute of Fisheries, Nautical & Engineering Training, Fine Arts Avenue, Kochi-682016
