What is CoCubes?

CoCubes is the largest assessment and campus hiring platform for students across India. Founded as a startup by graduates from IIT Bombay in 2007, CoCubes has emerged as the critical link between students, colleges and recruiters in India. CoCubes has taken up the responsibility to enhance employability of students and help them move ahead on their career path while also providing employers with a  workforce that is trained and qualified for the job on offer.

CoCubes – Exam Pattern

The Co-Cubes PRE-ASSESS is a holistic psychometric test. It is divided into six modules i.e. aptitude, computing fundamentals, psychometric module, domain specific knowledge, coding and written English test.

CoCubes Exam Syllabus

Although there is no defined syllabus for the CoCubes test, the official website mentions the key topics for every module. These topics highlight the key conceptual areas from which questions will be featured in the CoCubes PRE-ASSESS test.

Aptitude Module: The Aptitude module of the CoCubes test includes 45 questions which are to be answered in 45 minutes. The module has 15 questions each from three different sections i.e. English Usage, Analytical Reasoning and Numeric Reasoning.

  • For English Usage section, candidates will face questions on topics like Reading Comprehension; Grammar including Articles, Prepositions, Sentence Correction, Speech, Tenses; Verbal Ability including Synonyms, Antonym, Spellings, Idioms and Phrases.
  • For Analytical Reasoning section, candidates can expect questions on Visual Reasoning, Statement & Conclusions, Relationships, Logical Reasoning, Attention to Details and Flowcharts.
  • While for Numeric Reasoning section, there will be questions on different concepts of Mathematics i.e. Time & Work, Speed & Distance, Algebra, Equations, Progressions, Profit & Loss, Ratios, Averages, Geometry and Data Interpretation.

Computer Fundamentals Module: Questions in the Computer Fundamentals Module will range from Basics of C/C++/OOPS, Basics of Data Structures, Basics of Computer Architecture, Digital Logic, Networking Concepts to Common Applications such as MS Office and General Awareness about input/output devices. Candidates have to answer 15 questions in 15 minutes.

Psychometric Module: The Psychometric Module is aimed at testing the Behavioural profiling based on commonly known personality traits. The module will cover 50 questions which are to be answered in 12 minutes.

Domain Specific Module: The domain specific module is aimed at testing the knowledge of the candidates in the domain of their choice. Every candidate has to select only one domain for this module and it covers 20 questions which are to be answered in 20 minutes. The key modules and topics covered under each of them include:

  • Civil: Building Materials, RCC Design, Theory of Design & Structures, Soil Mechanics & Foundation, Construction Scheduling, Water Resource Engineering / Hydrology, Geotechnical Engineering and Environmental Engineering
  • Electrical: Electrical Machines, EMMI, Network Analysis and Synthesis, Control Systems, Digital Electronics, Power Electronics, Power System and Instrumentation, Micro-controller and Microprocessor
  • Mechanical: Thermodynamics, Design of Machine Members, IC Engines and Compressors, Theory of Machine, Engineering Material / Meteorology, Strength of Materials, Fluid Mechanics, Manufacturing Process.
  • Electronics: Electronic Devices & EMMI, Network Analysis and Synthesis, Microprocessor & Microcontrollers, Digital Electronics, Communication System, Control System and other allied topics.
  • Computer Science: C, C++, OOPS Concepts, Data Structures, DBMS concepts, Operating System Concepts, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Networking Concepts, Computer Architecture

Coding Module: In the coding module candidates will have to write code to solve a set of problems in the language of their choice: C, C++, C#, Java. This module will have 3 coding problems that are to be solved in 30 minutes.

Written English Test (WET): Candidates will have to express their views on simple topics of general awareness. English Grammar, Sentence Construction and Vocabulary are assessed along with relevance to topic and adherence to word limit. Example of a topic - Should schools have uniforms?

CoCubesCut-Off and Marking Scheme

There is no fixed cut-off based marking scheme for the CoCubes employability test. Different employers use the test results of CoCubes PRE-ASSESS test as per their requirements. However, the most common method used is Angoff Analysis. Under this marking scheme, for each question, approximate accuracy rate is determined on the basis of level of difficulty/past data for that question. Thereafter, an average is taken across questions to compute the overall accuracy rate. The final result in percentage terms becomes the cut-off.

For instance: E.g. if 5 questions have an expected accuracy of 30%, 10 questions have an expected accuracy of 50% and 5 questions have an expected accuracy of 75%, then the overall cutoff will be (5*30% + 10*50% + 5*75%)/20 = 51.25%

How to apply for CoCubes PRE-ASSESS test?

CoCubes is an employability test that connects not only job seekers / students with recruiters but also makes colleges or institutes an integral part of the employability assessment programme. Therefore, there are two ways in which candidates can apply for the CoCubes employability test.

  1. Your College can sign-up  as a partner college or the entire batch and you will appear for the CoCubes candidate as part of the larger group
  2. You can also apply individually as well through the Placement Cell of your respective college. For this, you have to buy individual annual subscription for the test.
