Staff Selection Commission has recently come out with a detailed notification regarding recruitment of Constables (Executive) in Delhi Police on temporary basis from all over India. The number of vacancies is huge for both male and female candidates and the combined vacancy for both the categories is more than 5000 (3115 for males and 1554 for female candidates). There are a lot of questions in the minds of the candidates regarding the recruitment process starting from eligibility to salary and career progression details for the post. We shall try to answer these queries in this article to help you make up an informed decision in this regard

Delhi Police Constable: Eligibility

The first and foremost criterion regarding the recruitment is that you have to be an Indian by national. The educational qualification required is a pass from any recognized board or organization in the Senior Secondary Level i.e. 10+2 level. However, this is relaxable upto 11th pass in case the applying candidates are sons or daughters of Delhi Police personnel, bandsmen, buglers, mounted constables, drivers, dispatch riders etc.

Regarding physical measurement, minimum height required for male candidates for this post is 170 cms and there is no relaxation granted to male candidates belonging to SC Category though the same is allowed in case of ST Candidates who can appear with height of 165 cms along with the persons from hill areas. In case of female candidates, the minimum height required is 157 cms but relaxation is there in case of SC / ST Candidates and candidates belonging to hill and tribal areas as they can appear with height of 155 cms. Regarding chest measurement, male candidates should have minimum 81 cm without expansion whereas it is required 85 cm in case of maximum expansion (that is 4 cms) whereas female candidates need not go through any chest measurement exercise at the time of recruitment

There is separate requirement for vision as the normal vision should be 6/12 without glasses and eyes should be free from color blindness. In case of any candidate who has undergone Lasik surgery, it is required for him / her to undergo certain tests in a government hospital. In general, candidates should not have flat foot, knock foot, deformity of fingers etc

The salary details for the posts come with the extra bonaza of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations. As per the revised scale of pay, the grade pay is 2000 whereas the pay band is 5200-20200 and it comes under pay matrix 3 in the revised pay structure of the Central Government. The career path in this post is not very good since all the higher posts are occupied by the IPS officers and another problem is that all the time, these officers get timely promotion though the field jobs are mainly carried out by the executive constables and that is why, the service of the organization takes a big hit most of the time. If you start as a constable in the executive rank in Delhi Police, you may end up in that post only even after 25 years of your service. This makes the difference in service by these personnel. This is a job which may give you a temporary option to support yourself but if you are an ambitious person with high dreams of making it count in your life, this is simply not the job for you because of the stagnation you will achieve after certain time and the dismal promotion policy of the post. Corruption also rules in the department right from the beginning of your career. However, as we all know, something is better than nothing and that may be the motivation for you to go for the examination which will take place in 2017 as the computer based online examination after the Physical Endurance Test is scheduled on 04.03.2017 as per the official notification
