Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has notified for the “Joint CSIR-UGC Test for Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Lectureship, December 2013”. The test is scheduled to be held on 22 December 2013.
CSIR holds the Joint CSIR-UGC Test twice a year for determining the eligibility of the Indian National candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) NET as well as to determine the eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subjects that come under the faculty of Science & Technology.
An eligible candidate may apply either for ‘JRF’ OR for ‘Lectureship (LS) only’. The Council will have the right to consider candidates’ candidature for ‘JRF’ or ‘LS’ based on the number of fellowships available and candidates’ performance in the test subject to the condition that they fulfill the given eligibility criterion. In case a candidate is found to be over-aged for JRF (NET), he/she will automatically be considered for Lectureship (NET) only for the subject he/she has applied to take the exam, except for Engineering Sciences.
NOTE: Engineering Sciences candidates will only be eligible for CSIR JRF ship and are advised to opt for JRF only in the application form.
The Joint CSIR-UGC Test for Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Lectureship, December 2013 will be held for the following subjects:
• Chemical Sciences
• Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences
• Life Sciences
• Mathematical Sciences
• Physical Sciences
• Engineering Sciences

Date of CSIR UGC NET examination: 22nd December, 2013 (Sunday)
BS-4 years program/BE/BTech/BPharma/MBBS/Integrated BS-MS/MSc or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks for General & OBC, and 50% marks for SC/ST/PH or VH candidates.
For JRF (NET): Upper age limit is 28 years as on 01 July 2013 (Upper age relaxation is applicable as per govt. rules)
For LS (NET): No upper age limit
For General Category: Rs. 400/-
For Other Backward Classes (OBC): Rs. 200/-
For SC/ST/Physically Handicapped (PH) or Visually Handicapped (VH): Rs. 100/-
Scheme of the Examination
The Joint CSIR-UGC Test, December 2013 will comprise a single paper that consists of 200 MCQ type questions related to subjects.
The test will be held on 22 December 2013 in two sessions:
Morning Session -- 9.00AM-12.00 Noon
Afternoon Session -- 2.00 PM-5.00 PM
