CUET UG 2024: Overview
The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is being introduced for admission into UG programmes in Central, State and Participating Universities/ Institutions for Academic Session 2024-25 under the Ministry of Education (MoE).
The Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) - 2024 will provide a common platform and equal opportunity to candidates across the country, especially those from rural and other remote areas and help establish better connections with the Universities. A single application form will enable the Candidates to cover a wide outreach and be part of the admission process to various Central and participating Universities. CUET UG 2024 Eligibility Criteria
The CUET UG Eligibility Criteria is released by NTA in the official information bulletin. Every student needs to fulfil these conditions to appear in the CUET UG exam. Also, it must be noted that for final admission, the student must fulfil the eligibility criteria required by respective CUET UG participating universities/institutes.
CUET UG 2024 Age Limit
There is no age limit for the candidates for appearing in the CUET (PG) 2024. However, the candidates will be required to fulfil the age criteria of the University in which they are interested to take admission.
CUET UG 2024 Education Qualification
The candidates who have passed the class 12/equivalent examination or appearing in 2024 can appear in the CUET UG 2024 examination. There is no minimum percentage of marks set by NTA to apply for the CUET UG 2024 exam, however, the candidates must have the minimum percentage of marks set by any individual university/institute.
List of Qualifying Examinations (QE)
The other qualifying exams for appearing in CUET UG 2024 are listed below:
- The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.
- Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
- Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy
- Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
- Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
- Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
- A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 years duration.
- General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
- High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
- Candidates who have completed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class 12 Examination.
- In case the Class 12 Examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.
CUET UG 2024 Eligibility Criteria: Important Points
Some key points regarding CUET UG 2024, which every candidate must know before applying CUET UG 2024, are given below:
- For admission to Universities through CUET UG 2024, the existing policies regarding quota, category, relaxation, reservations, qualification, subject combinations, preferences etc. of the respective University shall be applicable.
- As the eligibility criteria for admission may be unique for every University, the candidates are advised to visit the University website to which they are applying for their respective programs.
- Candidates are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess the eligibility criteria laid down by the University they are applying to.
- Mere appearance in the Entrance Test or securing passing marks on the test does not entitle a candidate to be considered for admission to the Programme unless he/she fulfils the Programme eligibility conditions of the University they are applying to.
