The Directorate of Education issued a circular based on the recent high court order accepting the policy decision of the Delhi government to fix the EWS reservation at fifteen percent , following an order for private unaided schools, which also includes the minority schools that received land from government agencies.
Though the circular has very well asked the schools to take action, it failed to give any other directions.
This very round of reservations for the EWS is very different from the twenty five percent required by the RTE.
At the very entry level Pre-school, pre-primary, Class I – the 15 percent gets included within the 25percent without giving the school any compensation. They were already under obligation to admit EWS students as per their agreements with agencies they got land from. Minority schools are included in this group as well.
It is to be also noted that the 15 percent reservation requirement will be application not just to entry-level classes but to fresh admissions into all classes starting standard II.
