Gauhati University (GU) has decided to hold a centralized entrance exam for applicants seeking admission in PhD course this year.
The entrance test is likely to be conducted in February; Also, the examination and admission pattern is also to be changed with effect from this academic session.
This academic year onwards applicants will be able to apply and receive their admit cards online.
The eligibility criteria for foreign students will be decided by the committee for conducting the entrance tests. Over 3,000 candidates apply for admission to PhD courses in GU every year.
Earlier, students had to apply to different departments. For the first time, the entrance tests will be centrally administered.
