    Economy

    1. Union Government on 1 April 2015 launched Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicles (FAME) – India Scheme.
    2. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 31 March 2015 imposed a monetary penalty of five lakh rupees on 16 Central Co-operative Banks (CCBs).
    3. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on 31 March 2015 approved to supply gas at uniform delivered price to all fertilizer plants on the gas grid for production of urea through a pooling mechanism.

    News

    1. Dr Subadhra Devi Rai, an Indian-origin Singaporean nurse, on 2 April 2015 was named for the 2015 International Achievement Award by the Florence Nightingale International Foundation (FNIF) of the International Council of Nurses.
    2. Sunita Tomar, the face of India’s anti-tobacco campaign, died on 1 April 2015 at her native village in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh. She was 28. 
    3. Renowned Hindi poet Kailash Vajpeyi died on 1 April 2015 due to cardiac arrest in a private hospital of Saket in New Delhi. He was 79. 
    4. Operation Raahat was in news on 1 April 2015 as India launched a massive air and sea operation to evacuate over 4000 Indian nationals from Yemen. The operation will involve total of five ships and four aircraft.
    5. The term MPGO was in news as the Union Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr. Harsh Vardhan on 30 March 2015 inaugurated Port Blair Magnetic Observatory (PBMO) at Shoal Bay No. 8 in Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

    Corporate

    1. The term IoT was in the news because Amazon and IBM on 31 March 2015 announced their plans to enter the IoT marketspace.
    2. India’s largest online marketplace Snapdeal on 1 April 2015 announced to acquire RupeePower, a leading digital financial products distribution platform. The acquisition aimed to launch financial service.  
    3. Bharti AXA General Insurance Company Limited on 3 April 2015 launched Smart Traveller that offers global coverage for students, individuals, families and frequent travellers.
    4. Satishchandra Doreswamy, the Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Wipro, resigned on 1 April 2015. As a CBO at Wipro, he had responsibilities for Business Operations Group, Delivery Leadership and Global Transformation charter.
    5. Vijay L Kelkar, the Chairman of the 13th Finance Commission, resigned from the Tata Chemicals Board on 1 April 2015. He was appointed on the Board of Tata Group firm on 30 May 2012.
    6. World’s largest e-commerce firm Alibaba on 31 March 2015 signed digital distribution deal with Germany’s music rights group BMG in a bid to become a digital media empire.
    7. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 1 April 2015 sanctioned the scheme of amalgamation of ING Vysya Bank Ltd. with Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. The Scheme will come into force with effect from 1 April 2015. 
    8. IBM announced on 31 March 2015 to invest 3 billion US dollars to build an Internet of Things (IoT) unit over the next four years.
    9. Insurance Australia Group Ltd (IAG) on 26 March 2015 announced that it will raise its stake in SBI General Insurance (SBIGI) from 26 percent to 49 percent. 

    National

    1. Michael Rudenko, a committee member of the Minor Planet Center on 1 April 2015 officially named a minor planet as 4538 Vishyanand, to honour India’s first chess grandmaster, Vishwanathan Anand.
    2. Mariyam Asif Siddiqui, a 12-year-old Muslim girl in March 2015 won the first position at the Shrimad Bhagwad Gita Champion League. She won the prize for explaining the teachings of the Bhagwad Gita. 
    3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 27 March 2015 launched Give it Up campaign. The campaign was launched at the annual energy-focussed summit Urja Sangam 2015.
    4. Mustafa Kamal on 1 April 2015 stepped down as the President of the International Cricket Council (ICC). He sent out the resignation letter to the ICC.
    5. Vice President of India Hamid Ansari on 31 March 2015 released a book titled Aatank Ke Saaye Men written by Garima Sanjay. She is a professional author & documentary filmmaker by profession.

    International

    1. FM Global in the first week of April released Global Resilience Index 2015. The Index offers powerful insights to help business executives target their investments towards more reliable returns and to protect their customers from unforeseen disruption.
    2. Al-Shabaab on 2 April 2015 carried out a massacre killing 147 people in the Garissa University College situated in Garissa County in northeastern Kenya.
    3. A California Appeals Court of the US on 3 April 2015 ruled that Yoga taught in San Diego County schools does not violate religious freedom.
    4. General Muhammadu Buhari won the Presidential Election of Nigeria. Election commission of Nigeria declared the result on 31 March 2015.  Muhammadu Buhari defeated Goodluck Jonathan.
    5. Iran, the P5+1 and the European Union (EU) on 2 April 2015 conceded on a framework agreement called as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) intended to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons. 

    Sports

    1. Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams won the 2015 Miami Open Men’s and women’s singles titles respectively at Crandon Park Tennis Center in Miami, Florida.
    2. Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis, the Indo-Swiss women pair of Tennis, on 5 March 2015 won the Miami Open Tennis women's doubles title.
    3. New Zealand cricket team captain Brendon McCullum on 1 April 2015 was conferred with the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal for 2014-15. McCullum won the award for his remarkable performance both as a player and the captain during the 2014-15 season.
