Accommodation is the biggest problem for students who come from outside Delhi to seek admission in Delhi University. Their first priority is to get accommodation in a hostel, because finding appropriate rooms in Delhi is a challenge in itself. But hostel accommodation is never easy to come by as only a few colleges provide hostel facility at graduate level, where at least 15 to 20 applications are received for a mere 2 to 3 seats allotted for every course. So here also priority is given to merit lists.
Hostels for Boys
Hostels are available in Hindu college, Venkateswara College, Hansraj, International Students House, Shri Ram College of Commerce, Kirori Mal College, and St Stephen's College.
Hostels for Girls
Hostel facilities are available in Lady Shriram, Indraprastha, Miranda House, Daulat Ram, Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Stephen's College, International Students House and Venkateshwara College.
Reservations
Just like reservation facility is provided for various categories for admission in colleges of Delhi university, same applies for hostels also, where seats have been reserved for SC, ST, foreign students, handicapped students, Sportsmen and for children of soldiers. Quota for SC-ST students is 22.5 percent, 10 percent for foreign students, 3 percent for handicapped students, 1 percent for sportsmen and some seats are kept aside for children of soldiers.
