A Few elements like carbon, sulphur, gold and noble gases occur in free state while other in combined form in the earth's crust. The extraction and isolation of elements from its combined form involves various principles of chemistry.
Extraction of metals:
1. Oxygen (found in highest quantity)
3. Aluminium (highest among metals)
Mineral Compounds of metal present in the earth's crust known as mineral or sometimes native metals (free form of metals) also known as minerals. Ores That type of mineral from which extraction of metal is very easy and economical is known as ores.
All ores are mineral but all minerals are not ore. Generally ores exist in oxide, salphide, sulphate, carbonate, phospate, silicate and halide form.
Q. Why no any metal from nitrate ore are obtained?
A. Because all metal nitrates are water soluble.
