Nima Arora has achieved 50th rank in the recently announced IAS 2013 Results as declared on 12 June 2014 . Nima belongs to a middle class family and residing in Delhi from last 25 years. Preparing for IAS was a new venture for Nima because none of her siblings were in Government Job. She knew the uncertainty of the IAS Exam  hence she tried in the other exams and achieved success there also.Being selected in IBPS Bank PO and SSC Grade C post Auditor in 2012, she continued with her preparation and achieved this milestone.

About her Preparation
This was her second attempt, it took her around 2.5 half years to get this success in the IAS Exams. Believe in moving forward with time, she says internet is acting as an important resource for collecting information. She relied on electronic material more than the theoretical static books. She visited various Internet websites to gather relevant information for the preparation and highlight the imp issues only for future reference.  She made notes from newspaper and frontline and did not pile up magazines. Only wrote down imp pointers/issues. She said ”Regarding notes, I would suggest everyone to learn the habit of reading more and writing less. It is not necessary to prepare notes on every topic. I hardly made any notes except some current affairs that would enrich my answers in the mains exam and notes on IR.”

Quality not quantity matters

She said “Do not count the number of hours you study. Quality matters. Even if you are able to devote only 4 hours per day, it is sufficient if and only if you understand what CSE demands. More than knowledge, it is the way you express and present your answers. If one feels that this trait is lacking, focus more on answer writing and evaluate it yourself or from friends.”

Experience from the first attempt

She said “I was under-confident. This was the biggest reason why I failed in prelims. I got 206 and cutoff was 209. Later, I tried taking other government exams and gained the lost confidence.”
