    Institute of Banking Personnel Selection is one of the premier institute in India, which conduct the entrance exams for the various banks and for various posts in banks. Specialist officer Job is one of the most respected and responsible jobs in the Bank branch. The positions such as IT officer, Agricultural Field Officer, Law officer, marketing officer and the likes ensure the profitability and the viability of the Bank.

    Specialist officers have the specialized job in the bank, hence they are the authority in their respective areas and field of work. In addition to the authority they are also responsible for any of the errors and the onus of the whole mistake comes on them.
    So all in all, it is a highly respectable and most sought after job by the Indian youths. The rising number of applications year after year clearly indicates that the  these jobs are favourites among the candidates.

    IBPS Specialist Officer SO Exam Notification and Eligibility Criteria

    Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) had issued the notification for IBPS Specialist Officers (IBPS SO Notification) in the first week of November. This notification was issued for the various positions of the specialist officers such as the IT Officers, Agricultural Officers, Law Officers, Marketing officers and the likes.

    The total number of vacancies  notified under the IBPS SO Notification was 1315. This has provided a golden opportunity for the candidates preparing for the IBPS SO Exam 2017. As there are a good number of vacancies the number of application increases and in turn the level of competition in the IBPS SO Exam will also increase.

    IBPS SO Latest Notification

    The educational qualifications for all the specialised jobs are different. There is no common educational eligibility for all posts.

    I.T. Officer: 4 year Engineering/ Technology Degree in Computer Science/ Computer Applications/ Information Technology/ Electronics/ Electronics & 3 Telecommunications/ Electronics & Communication/ Electronics & Instrumentation OR Post Graduate Degree in Electronics/ Electronics & Tele Communication/ Electronics & Communication/ Electronics & Instrumentation/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Computer Applications OR Graduate having passed DOEACC ‘B’ level.
    Agricultural Field Officer:  4 year Degree (graduation) in Agriculture/ Horticulture/Animal Husbandry/ Veterinary Science/ Dairy Science/ Fishery Science/ Pisciculture/ Agri. Marketing & Cooperation/ Co-operation & Banking/ Agro-Forestry/Forestry/ Agricultural Biotechnology/ Food Science/ Agriculture Business Management/ Food Technology/ Dairy Technology/ Agricultural Engineering.

    Rajbhasha Adhikari: Post Graduate Degree in Hindi with English as a subject at the degree (graduation) level OR Post graduate degree in Sanskrit with English and Hindi as subjects at the degree (graduation) level.

    Law Officer: A Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB) and enrolled as an advocate with Bar Council.

    HR/Personnel Officer: Graduate and Two Years Full time Post Graduate degree or Two Years Full time Post Graduate diploma in Personnel Management / Industrial Relations/ HR / HRD/ Social Work / Labour Law.

    Marketing Officer (Scale-I): Graduate and Two Years Full time MMS (Marketing) / Two Years Full time MBA (Marketing) / Two Years Full time PGDBA / PGDBM/ PGPM/ PGDM with specialization in Marketing

    The Age limit is somewhat common among all the posts that is 20-30 years of age for the unreserved category. For the age relaxation provided to the other categories, please refer to the detailed notification.

    Specialist Officers in a bank are appointed for specialized roles in various departments, according to their expertise and educational background.

    Job Profile of IT Officer

    IT Specialist Officer as the name suggest, keeps the onus of all the IT functioning of the bank branch. It can be taken as the part of the daily branch operations for ensuring the smooth functioning of bank IT equipments. After the introduction of CBS, the importance and the responsibility of this functionary has increased manifolds. All the branches require 100 % uptime for all the day. Sometimes it became a challenge as the basic infrastructure such as electricity, level of team computer literacy and other things plays their role.

    All the banks have their customised softwares for the day to day operations. They need to understand the hierarchical structure of the whole bank in order to give permissions to various authorities. During the training of these IT Officers, they have to learn the basics and advance version of the customised softwares. The majority of these Banking Softwares is based on the Linux and UNIX operating system which poses a challenge in the learning of backend.

    Once the IT Specialist Officer reaches a senior position, he should be able to assess the future IT interests of the bank, plan scaling of IT infrastructure, issue tenders, and report IT vacancies to the HR department. He virtually works on enhancing the customer experience and help the bank to acquire more customers.

    Job Profile of Agricultural Field Officer

    He should be well versed with the geography of India in general and Cropping and agriculture sessions of India in particular. He has to take the field surveys of the farm fields, agricultural land and the market connectivity for the commercial viability of the crop. He should understand the climatic concerns associated with the crops of the local areas and the availability of remedies for the local crop diseases. It is expected that he should know about the climate pattern, sowing and harvesting cycles, new and emerging agricultural and cultivation techniques. All this and more make up the job profile of the agricultural field officers.
    He needs to do a great balancing act between the viable and non viable loan applications. His report forms the basis of the agricultural loans given to the farmers. In addition to this his work includes evaluation of property and assets of potential customers, and suggests a reliable approach for increasing the crop yield and performance; in a way that it profits the banks as well. Also, they need to be able to communicate the latest technologies (like GreenHouse and Hi Tech Farming) to farmers and explain the related financial products (like Kisan Credit Cards) to them.

    Job Profile of Marketing Specialist Officer

    The major responsibility revolves around improving market presence and prots of the bank through appropriate marketing campaigns and promotions activities. Marketing Specialist Ocer should have knowledge of the nancial products of the bank and the ability to devise the plans to sell them to High Net worth Individuals as well as others. This also includes lead generation for the same and the required follow ups as well.

    Job Profile of HR Specialist Officer

    He is required to handle the training and induction of new employees, circulate appraisal forms, form leave schedules, creation of salary accounts etc. Senior HR Managers conduct recruitment interviews, address labor laws, employee promotions and other critical Human Resources related activities. HR Specialists are also required to convey the open vacancies to recruiting agencies like IBPS.

    Job Profile of Law Specialist Officer

    They also form the instructions and conditions mentioned in the customer application forms of loan, opening up of accounts, credit cards etc. They also appear for respective banks in courts, sending notices to defaulting customers, and help the bank in taking over attached properties if required.

    Promotion Policy for the Specialist Offiicers

    Career in banking sector has always been considered as one of the most lucrative and stable choices by Indian youth. The recent push by the central government to increase banking functionality and network through schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojan, Financial Inclusion etc. has further shifted the focus upon this sector. With increasing competition from the private sector, Public Sector Banks like SBI, Bank of Baroda etc. have also started diversifying their operations and adopted the concept of Universal banking to cover different banking function. Public Sector Banks have also started hiring specialist officers to handle these special Bank Jobs that require specific skill set and focus.
