In order to disseminate information about the on-going developments and reforms in the Indian Power Distribution sector, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) decided to introduce an Advanced Certificate Course in Power Distribution Management (ACPDM) designed by its School of Engineering and Technology starting this session 2012-13.
The certificate programme is designed in such a manner that the professionals employed in electrical power utilities or the electricity sector can upgrade their skills, enhance systematic efficiency and deliver quality power while earning at the same time.
The new programme developed by IGNOU, in collaboration with the Power Ministry, the USAID-India and the Power Finance Corporation under the Distribution Reform Upgrades and Management (DRUM) project is objected to generate awareness about the applications of emerging technologies and trends in the Power Sector. It also aims to educate the personnel employed in the sector about various prospects of Power Distribution Management as owing to the need of growing population; there is a severe need of skilled man-power in the power sector.
Important Dates and other details for Admission to ACPDM in IGNOU
The Engineering graduates, engineering diploma holders or equivalent with two years of experience in the electricity sector are very much eligible to roll themselves in the same course on or before 30 July 2012. They can also apply by 14 August 2012 for the admission but then they will have to pay a late fee of Rs 200. The interested and eligible candidates may avail the student handbook and prospectus from all the regional centers as well as the University’s headquarters for an amount of Rs 100. The duly filled application form should be submitted along with the requisite fee in the form of a demand draft to the concerned regional centers.
