Indian Navy Sailor Admit Card 2019 to be released @ joinindiannavy.gov.in. Indian Navy (Bhartiya Nausena) will conduct the online examination for the recruitment of Sailors - Artificer Apprentice (AA) and Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR). This year, the Indian Navy has announced a total of 2700 vacancies for Sailors - 2200 vacancies for India Navy SSR and 500 for AA. The Indian Navy Sailors’ selection is a three-phased process - Computer-based Examination, Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Medical Examination. The selected sailors will be recruited for February 2020 Batch Course of Indian Navy. Sailor recruitment exam details such as date and time of exam and exam centre will be revealed on the Indian Navy Sailor Admit Card 2019. There will be common paper for the AA and SSR Sailors. The language of the exam will be bilingual (Hindi & English). Questions will be asked from four sections - English, Science, Mathematics and General Knowledge. A total of 100 questions will be asked. Each question carries 1 mark.

Indian Navy Sailor Selection Process
Once the Indian Navy recruitment application process is over, the eligible candidates receive the Indian Navy Call Letters or Admit Cards, detailing about the date, time and centre of examination. The candidates can download their admit card @joinindiannavy.gov.in.

Exam Pattern
The Computer-based Examination for recruitment of Indian Navy Sailors will be common for AA and SSR. The questions will be objective in nature (multiple-choice) and the language of question paper will be bilingual - Hindi & English.
The question paper will comprise of four sections i.e. English, Science, Mathematics and General Knowledge and will be of 60 minutes duration. The candidates are required to pass in all sections and in aggregate. The syllabus for each type of entry is given in the download section.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
After qualifying in the examinations, the candidates will be required to appear for the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). Qualifying Physical Fitness Test is mandatory for selection as Sailor. The fitness test will include:
- 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes
- 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak)
- 10 Push-ups
Moreover, proficiency in sports, swimming and extra-curricular activities is desirable.
Medical Examination
Candidates who qualify the Physical Fitness Test will be required to undergo and qualify the Medical Examination. The Medical Examination will be conducted by authorised military doctors who will test the candidates as per the prescribed medical standard, such as:
• Minimum height of 157 cms
• Weight and Chest should be proportionate
• Minimum chest expansion of 5 cms

Final Enrolment Medical Examination
The Final Enrolment Medical Examination of the selected candidates will be conducted at INS Chilka, Odisha. Only the medically fit candidates will be enrolled as Sailors.
What about Candidates who are declared medically unfit?
Candidates who are found medically unfit will be given a chance to appeal against the decision. They will be required to appeal at INHS Kalyani, Visakhapatnam within 21 days of declaration.
Training of selected candidates
Once the sailors qualify the Computer-based Examination, Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Medical Examinations, they then need to undergo 22 weeks of Basic Training at INS Chilka and Professional training in various Naval Training Establishments.
Job Profile of Indian Navy Sailors
Sailors are the main workforce in Indian Navy and it is a good career option for 12th passed candidates. Candidates qualified in 10+2 examination with Maths, Physics and in any one of these subjects- Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science is eligible to become sailors.
Indian Navy Sailors are required to serve in ships such as Guided Missile Destroyers and Frigates, Aircraft Carriers, Replenishment Ships and highly technical submarines. They need to handle operations of equipment like radars, sonars and weapons like guns, missiles and rockets.
Educational Opportunities
Sailors are required to undertake various professional courses while serving in the Indian Navy. These courses award them with "Graduation Equivalent Certificate" on their retirement i.e. after completion of 15 years of service.
Pay Scale of Sailors
Initially, in the training period, Sailors will be paid a stipend of Rs 14,600 per month. After completion of training, sailors will be placed in Level 3 of the Defence Pay Matrix (Rs 21,700 to Rs 69,100). Additionally, they will be paid MSP of Rs 5200 per month along with DA as an applicable plus. There will be X Group pay only for Artificer Apprentice of Rs 6200 per month plus DA as applicable.
