In 2014, JEE Advanced was conducted by the CBSE for the second time. For conducting the exam, the whole country was divided into seven zones. These zones are decided on the basis of IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee). Following table consists of the zone wise data of the candidates registered & qualified in the JEE Advanced exam, on the basis of their type of preparation. The data clearly indicates that the maximum number of candidates registered, were the candidates who choose self study as their mode of preparation. The same ratio reflects in the data of qualified candidates as here also maximum no of candidates comes under self studyLike previous years, CBSE, AP Board, mode of preparation.

Around 63 % (80011) of the total candidates registered (126995) have chosen their mode of preparation as self study.
Around 53 % (14282) of the total candidates qualified (27152) have chosen their mode of preparation as self study.
