JEE Main 2018 Counselling and Seat Allotment Procedure will begin from June 15, 2018 as the registration window will be available in online mode. Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the counselling authority for JEE Main 2018 and will be organising the complete seat allotment procedure. JEE Main 2018 result were announced on April 30, 2018 and as many as 23, 1024 candidates qualified for the exam, which helped them in taking a step further to their dream of IIT admissions. But, for JEE Advanced only 2, 24, 000 are eligible, therefore many aspirants have to secure admissions in other premier engineering Institutes like NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. The admissions to engineering courses on basis of JEE Main 2018 will be completed in June and July month only. Seat Allotment Result: Round 6
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) declared the seat allotment result for round 6 on July 15. The result of the fifth round of JoSAA Seat Allotment 2018 was declared on July 14 by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). According to the revised schedule released by JoSAA, the seat allotment result for round 7 will be declared on July 18. Features of JEE Main 2018 Counselling and Seat Allotment:
- JEE Main 2018 Counselling will be conducted in online mode only i.e. candidates will be required to fill options for colleges, and also seat locking after the allotment list is published will be done in online mode only
- The candidates will be allotted seats as per the rank list, their preffered colleges and specialisation and availability of seats only
- Moreover, the fee payment and withdrawal of admission during JEE Main Counselling 2018 will also be done in online mode only
- The candidates who want to secure admission in their allotted college need to pay the fee to confirm or their JEE Main 2018 seat allotment will not be confirmed
JEE Main 2018 Counselling Procedure 2018
Candidates seeking admissions to NITs, GFTIs, IIITs on basis of their JEE Main 2018 scores will be required to participate in counselling of JEE Main when the online window is made available in June. The counselling procedure of JEE Main 2018 is in online mode to avoid hassles of offline counselling procedure. The registration for JEE Main 2018 counselling, choice filling, fee payment as well as seat locking procedure is made online only. The students only need to report at the allotted engineering college once the seat is confirmed. Check below the JEE Main 2018 counselling procedure in detail –
1. Registration for JEE Main 2018 Counselling – Candidates first need to register in online mode to participate in the counselling procedure and for this they need – JEE Main registration number, roll number and password
2. Filling choices from list of participating Institutes – Candidates can now fill their choice of engineering institutes from NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs as per their preference i.e. they have to select their most preferred college first, then second most preferred and so on. Also, they can select their choice of specialisation for engineering course.
How is JEE Main ranking of two or more candidates with same marks calculated?
3. Allotment list – JoSAA will be releasing seat allotment list after the students have completed choice filling procedure. The candidates will be allotted seats on basis of their preferences, ranks and availability of seat only.
4. Payment of fees for seat locking – Candidates can secure the allotted seat by using their JEE Main2018 seat allotment options i.e. -
Freeze: To confirm the allotted seat,
Float: To change seat allotted to them
Slide: To change the course allotted to them in the same Engineering Institute
Withdrawal: To withdraw admission from the seat allotted to them
Candidates can confirm their seat after paying the counselling and admission fee for JEE Main 2018 in online mode or offline mode through SBI Net Banking/ e-Challan
5. Documents verification and reporting: Candidates need to get their documents verification done and after that they need to report at their allotted Engineering Institute only. The documents required for verification at JEE Main counselling 2018 are –
- Provisional JoSAA seat allotment letter
- Score Card of JEE Main 2018
- Identity Proof
- Proof of seat acceptance fee payment
- Admit Card JEE Main 2018
- Date of birth certificate
- Mark sheet of Class 12th
- Category certificate for reserved category candidates
- 3 passport size photographs (as per JEE Main 2018 application only)
