JEE Main 2024 Items to Carry
JEE Main 2024 applicants appearing for the exam must carry the below-mentioned items along with them:
- Photograph: Carry at least two to three passport-size photographs as uploaded in the JEE Main 2024 registration form.
- Self-attested JEE Main 2024 admit card: A printout of the JEE Main admit card 2024, duly signed by the candidate, would be essential to get entry and sit for the exam.
- Photo ID: Carry a valid photo ID proof to the exam centre. You may carry one of these: an Aadhaar card, PAN card, or driving license.
- Ball pen: A simple transparent black ballpoint pen needs to be carried.
- Water bottle: A transparent water bottle can be carried along to the JEE Main exam centre.
- PwD Certificate (if applicable): If you have a disability and require any special arrangements during the exam,.
- A transparent plastic pouch: Carry your stationery items in a transparent pouch for easy and quick security checks.
Note: It is possible that a few exam centre authorities may not allow one or two items from the above-mentioned list to avoid any security breach.
JEE Main 2024 Prohibited Items
For the fair and smooth conduct of the JEE Main exam, certain items are prohibited inside the exam centre. Check the list below:
- Electric devices: mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, earphones, and other electronic items are prohibited from being taken inside the JEE Main exam centre.
- Study Material: Candidates are not allowed to carry any textbooks or notebooks inside the exam centre. Only a hard copy of the JEE Main 2024 will be allowed to be carried along.
- Wallets and Handbags: Candidates cannot bring any bags or purses inside the exam hall. Only a transparent pouch carrying permitted items like an admit card, ID proof, and pen is allowed.
- Food and beverages: Eating or drinking anything inside the exam hall is strictly prohibited.
- Hazardous materials: bringing any dangerous items like knives, blades, pepper spray, or other harmful substances is strictly forbidden.

JEE Main 2024 Exam Day Instructions
Before the exam
- Candidates must carry the hardcopy of the admit card along with two to three A4-size photographs and other essential documents, as mentioned in the ‘JEE Main 2024 Items to Carry’.
- Do not carry items that are prohibited at the JEE exam centre, as it may lead to the cancellation of your candidature.
- Plan to arrive early at your JEE Main exam centre, as it might get crowded as many candidates reach the place at once.
- Dress comfortably, as you need to sit for hours in order to complete the exam.
During the exam,
- Try to keep calm and stay focused.
- Manage your time effectively in order to cover all three sections of the exam (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics).
- Read each question carefully before you start answering it.
- If you have time, review your answers at the end of the exam.
After the exam,
- Do not take the rough sheets with you after the exam. Hand them over to the invigilator before leaving the exam hall.
- Wait for the instructions from the invigilator before leaving the exam hall. Leave the hall in an orderly manner without causing any disturbance.
