Analysis of a question paper helps a candidate in understanding the following things:
- Importance of chapters.
- Type of questions asked.
- Trend of the papers.
Following post analyses the mathematics section of previous year JEE Main question paper. With the help of the analysis candidates can get the rough idea of JEE Main question paper. Along with this candidates can also get the idea of important topics for the mathematics section of JEE Main which will lead to a better preparation of JEE Main. Following are the important features of mathematics section of JEE Main-2014.
Lengthy paper: Mathematics section of JEE Main-2014 is considered lengthy as compared to that of previous year papers. The questions asked in the sections were lengthy in terms of calculation. It is assumed that the questions were easy and straightforward but the calculation part of the questions require more time.
Equal weightage to 10th & 12th: The question paper was according to the syllabus of JEE Main. Moreover equal weightage was given to the board syllabus of class 11th & class 12th. Same number of questions was asked from the syllabus of both the classes.
Important Topics: Calculus and Co-ordinate Geometry: From the mathematics section it can easily be concluded that the most important topics are co-ordinate geometry and calculus (including differential and integral calculus). Around 50% questions (total 14 questions) of mathematics section were asked from these topics in the question paper of JEE Main-2014 & 2013.
