The Lucknow University plans to increase (double) the seats of its popular Masters in Business Administration (MBA) courses. The number of seats in MBA (finance control) and MBA (marketing) will be increased from 60 to 120 each from the new academic session of 2017-19 Batch.
In this regard the vice-chancellor of Lucknow University S P Singh commented that "For 540 students enrolled in eight MBA courses, there are 32 teachers, fulfilling the required 1:15 teacher-student ratio." The admission committee will take the final decision on the number of seats in its meetings.
Centralised Admission Policy
Further, the admission process for academic session 2017-18 of Lucknow University is likely to begin from March 20. It will be for the first time that the university will be conducting admission through the centralised admission cell. This change indicates that admission to all courses will be conducted in an online mode and a uniform admission process will be followed.
Prof Anil Mishra of the chemistry department who has been appointed as the admission coordinator by the university for the second consecutive year has commented that "Centralised admission will help the university maintain and retrieve uniform admission data of the students as and when required by the university. The application process for the new academic session will begin tentatively on March 20. The admission process will be in online mode," said admission coordinator Anil Mishra.
4 courses instead of seven
The university plans to run four MBA courses instead of seven in academic session 2017-18. The university has closed down its MBA in Corporate Management, Retail Management, and Management Sciences. The number of seats in MBA in Finance Control, Marketing and Human resource & Industrial Relation Management has been doubled from 60 to 120 seats. There is no change in the MBA (International Business) which has 60 seats in this course. LU vice-chancellor S P Singh said, "Three courses that received poor response in the previous years have been ceased. The resources and faculty involved in this course will be used in the courses in which seats have been increased."
