The Maharashtra Government decided to set up the Indian Institute of Information Technology ( IIIT) in Chicholi, near Nagpur city.
This announcement was made by the Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on 21 December , on the last day of the winter session of state legislature.
The state government accepted the recommendations after a continuous follow up done with the Union Human Resources Development Ministry.
As per the decision, after all of it 50 per cent of the cost is to be borne by the Centre, 35 per cent by the state government and remaining 15 per cent by private players.
Also, the land is to be identified and provided by state government About 59.26 acres of land has already been identified in Pune for the purpose.
