Maharashtra PCS Prelims 2014:Paper I:Question Paper

    The Maharashtra Public Service Commission conducted the State Services Preliminary Examination (Maharashtra PCS)on 2nd February, 2014. The exam consisted of two papers: Paper I (General Studies) and Paper II (Aptitude test). Here an analysis of the General Studies question paper.
    The paper had total 100 questions that were objective type.  

    A large number of questions were asked from General Science. Around 34 questions were asked from this section, which were mostly of school level. Most of the questions that were asked were related to Biology.

    Around 16-17 questions were asked from History section. The questions were asked from Ancient, Medieval as well as modern History but more questions were from Modern India and Indian National Movement. Most of the questions from History had a factual orientation. 2-3 questions were from Art and culture part.

    Around 12 questions were asked from Geography. These consisted of map based questions, questions from world as well as Indian Geography.

    The paper had around 11-12 questions from polity section which was mostly Indian polity.

    This time, around 5-6 questions were asked from Population and census. These questions were mainly factual.

    There were around 6-7 questions from environment and biodiversity section.

    Around 6 questions were asked from current events section.

    There were not any questions from the economy section this time.
