NDA Exam I 2016: English Paper Analysis

    The NDA Exam consist of two papers: Mathematics and General ability test, below we have discussed the analysis of section A of General Ability. The General Ability test comprises of two sections i.e. Section A and Section B. The section A is of English (200 marks) and Section B (400 marks) is of general knowledge.

    When it comes to English even those students who are academically strong start feeling nervous or under the weather as sometimes they do not get the opportunity to do the schooling from English medium and when the competition is among lakhs of students lagging behind in this subject is a demotivating factor because to clear the written of NDA Exam scoring and clearing each section is equally important. So do not worry if you are weak in this subject, as practice can make anybody near to perfect!! Here are few tactics to understand this section with the importance of the topics.

    1.Grammar Preparation:  Everyone says we are learning grammar from primary classes, but still not able to cram rules properly so it’s the time to take out your schools grammar books to understand the basic rules. As Grammar is the basic of English language so it requires the attention to understand it in a full manner.

    (a)It includes the topic as Sentence completion, Synonyms, Antonyms, spotting the Errors, idioms & phrases, spellings Check, Re-arranging sentences.
    (b)In 2015, 9 questions came from spotting the errors and without the knowledge of grammar rules this part cannot be solved.
    (c)Ordering of words in a sentence which is easy to solve if you know the right trick as 6 questions were asked. Various books are available and websites to practice.

    (2)   Reading Comprehension: Reading Comprehension is a vital part of any competitive exam. Everyone focus on the reading and making it as a habit to improve your English and its true for the beginners to start reading with the newspaper and read various articles on the variety of topics because when something is interesting learning becomes easy and fun. Understanding and knowledge of the tones and themes of the authors and passages will be beneficial to solve the Reading Comprehension.

    (3) Vocabulary: Regular use of English words is very much important for making improvement in it. English news channel, novel are the best example of improving the vocabulary section. Making your own word list will not only help you in written examination but will make you confident while conversing in English with others. In written examination options are given for synonyms and antonyms but they are too closed that without knowledge getting the right solution will be problematic. Various online games are available to make you strong in this topic. Making flash cards of various words is also the best way to learn the words.
    Remember English is not a foreign language it is global language so if you want to excel in competition and shine in future it is essential to understand this language.
