After successfully qualifying JEE Main exam, candidates are eligible to take admission in the 23 Government-funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). After NITs, a host of centrally funded and state government funded institutes have emerged as the favored option for students who have secured decent rank / score in JEE Main. Although not as popular as IITs / NITs, these institutes have excellent track record in technical education with some of their academic programmes even being recognized internationally.
