UK Work Study Visa Norms Change
Students going the the UK for a degree will no longer be allowed a two year timeline to look for jobs after their course ends. The Tier 1 (post study work) route will be closed from April 2012 for low skilled jobs. This is one of the major changes in the UK immigration policy.
According to the new rules, only graduates with offers of skilled jobs from sponsoring employers will be able to stay in UK for work. This is provided that their skill levels match the job and the salary is above £20,000/year. The English language requirements have also been changed to a higher level (from B1 to B2).
Impact: This will not have any impact on students going to UK for academic study.
