The dilemma, which the candidate face over the decision whether to continue preparing for SSC with a job or without is quite an old one, and the candidates are searching for answers even now. Both the prospects have its pro and cons and thus needs a careful pondering in both the scenario.

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is a recruitment body that conducts recruitment for various posts in different government department and ministries throughout the nation. The recruitment is made through taking a written test and conducting the personal interview. These examinations are competitive in nature and are quite tough to succeed. It needs adequate preparation, in part, of the candidates in order to make sure that they ensure the required cut off marks in the examination. There is no certainty whether the candidates would be able to score the cut off marks in the very first attempt that they make, as thousands of aspiring candidates battle out, giving their best for the posts.

Thus, for candidates who have a secure job and are looking for a better opportunity by cracking the examination need to figure out the future possibilities before quitting the job and start preparing for the SSC CGL examination. It is very important for the candidates to first know well about-

a.  The examination pattern and

b.  The scope of getting through with the recruitment process.

There are two tiers of written examination and personal interview round that the candidates need to pass in order to land up to the job. Hence, it is not an easy walk in the park and It requires hard work and adequate preparation in part of the candidates. Preparing for the examination with already working somewhere is a tough ask, and could drain the candidates physically and mentally.

Risks of preparing for SSC without a Job

As SSC examination conducts every year; candidates possessing different qualifications can apply for these posts each year, based on the number of vacancies. These examinations are competitive in nature and huge number of candidates gets eliminated through the two tiers of written examination conducted by the commission.

a. The motive of the written examination is to select the best candidates suitable for the posts, among the heap of candidates applying for the posts every year. Those candidates scoring the cut-off marks in the written examinations move forward and those who fail have to wait for another year for the examination.

Without a job this wait for another wait can be very tiring and frustrating. It affects the financial condition as well as the confidence level of the candidates. The physiological battle with the self becomes quite crucial and many candidates give up to the competitive exam and opt for other jobs. If you don’t have  a job, there is no guaranteed assurance that the candidates might land up in any of the posts offered by SSC, and once they cross their upper age limit they would not be able to further apply for any posts under SSC. It also becomes tough for the candidates to get into any new industry with the age that they carry over their shoulders and they need to compromise with the meager salary jobs offered by some company.

Conclusion

The dilemma, which the candidate faces over the decision whether to continue preparing for SSC with a job or without is quite an old one, and the candidates are searching for answers even now. Both the prospects have its pro and cons and thus needs a careful pondering in both the scenario. The best possible solution for it is to give it a try for a couple of years and then shift to take a different government or private sector job of less work pressure, while continuing the preparation for the exam.
