Indian Air Force (IAF) offers a special entry route for NCC women Cadets who are holding C Certificates. A candidate with C certificate can directly apply for SSB interview without sitting into the written exam. Earlier, this facility was open for male cadets only. Now the first time, IAF is opening this route for women cadet also. Applications will be accepted by online mode from 20 May to 15 June 2017.
"IAF has always encouraged the NCC students to join the organisation. Towards this NCC special entry scheme was institutionalised, wherein NCC cadets who are C certificate holders in Air Wing were exempted from the written exam and would be called directly for the SSB," an IAF official.
Indian Air force has the highest number of women officers in comparison to Army and Navy. The number of women officer in IAF is 1,350, whereas in Army it is 1,300 and Navy has 450 officers.
The process of the recruitment of CDS (Combined Defence Services) comprises of written test, interview with SSB (Staff Selection Board) and medical test. By this scheme, the NCC (National Cadet Corps) candidates will be eligible to apply directly for SSB Interview.
