SSC notified recruitment of Junior Translators

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) notified recruitment to the post of Junior Translators (CSOLS) (Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted) in the pay scale of Rs.9300-34800 with Grade Pay of Rs. 4200 in various Offices/Departments under Department of Official Language. For the recruitment, SSC would hold an All India Open Competitive Examination on 18 November, 2012. The Examination will comprise of a Written test followed by Interview. Final number of vacancies will be determined in due course.

Fee: A non-refundable fee of Rs.100 has to be paid through "Central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS)" available at the counter of all Departmental Post Offices in the country.     

(Female candidates and candidates belonging to SC/ST, Physically Handicapped and Ex-Servicemen -- eligible for reservation – are exempted from paying fee).

Age Limit: Not exceeding 30 years as on 01.08.2012 (i.e. those born on and after 02-08-1982 are eligible to apply).

[Upper age limit relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST; OBC -- 3 years; PH --10 years; PH (OBC) -- 13 years; PH (SC/ST) -- 15 years;
Ex-Servicemen (Unreserved / General) --5 years, (OBC) -- 8 years, (SC/ST) -- 10 years;
Central Government Civilian Employees who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on Closing date -- Up to 35 years of age (General/Unreserved),  (OBC) Up to 38 years of Age, (SC/ST ) Up to 40 years of age;

Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir -- 5 years (Unreserved/General), (OBC) 8 years, (SC/ST) 10 years;
Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof -- 3 years (Unreserved/General), (OBC) -- 6 years, (SC/ST) -- 8 years.]

Educational Qualifications: (As on 01/08/2012)

(I) (a) Master’s Degree in Hindi or English from a recognized University or equivalent with English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at degree level;     OR

(b) Master’s Degree in any subject other than Hindi or English with Hindi or English medium from a recognized University or equivalent and English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at degree level        OR

(c) Master’s Degree in any subject other than Hindi or English from a recognized University or equivalent with Hindi and English as a compulsory or elective subject or either of the two as medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level;

AND

(II)  (a) Recognized Diploma or certificate Course in Translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa;         OR

(b) Two years experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in Central or State Government Offices including Government of India Undertakings.

Added qualification:

(a) Knowledge of one of the languages other than Hindi mentioned in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution at the level of Matriculation of a recognized Board or equivalent.

(b) Degree or Diploma in translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa from a recognized University.

NOTE:
•  It has been decided in consultation with the Department of Official Language that Educational Qualification II will be relaxed for candidates who have secured 55% and above marks in Educational Qualification I.
•  The Degree obtained through open Universities/Distance Education Mode needs to be recognized by Distance Education Council, IGNOU. Accordingly, unless such Degrees had been recognized for the period when the candidates acquired the relevant qualification, they will not be accepted for the purpose of Educational Qualification.
•  Candidates who have not acquired the educational qualifications as on 01.08.2012 are not eligible to apply.
