The University Grants Commission has asked all the varsities across India to strengthen teachers’ education.
The Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) Ved Prakash had written to all the Vice-Chancellors of all universities to strengthen skills of faculty they have appointed in their institute, the letter also directed to provide the teachers with regular training and also devise ways and means for running integrated courses in teacher education.
The UGC asked the institutes to organize and cover programmes for teacher education in its activity calendar and provide a significant place for both refresher and orientation programmes for teacher educators.
The letter also asked VCs to create a training modules aimed at organizing both refresher and orientation training programmes for teacher educators.
It is demanded by VCs of each university to get into special efforts that teacher education curriculum for Post-graduate courses are aligned with the National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education (NCFTE) Act, 2009 of the NCTE.
It goes on to directing other vital measures, in order to improve education in the nation. Focus on strengthening postgraduate courses in education departments was also among other points UGC and centre wants to raise attention to, with the aim of betterment.
