UGC- Faculty Recharge Programme March 2013

The University Grants Commission of India invited applications till 31 March 2013 for Faculty Recharge Programme to upgrade and rejuvenate faculty resources and boost research in Indian Universities. The recruitment will be done for the positions of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor in the areas of basic sciences that are Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Engineering Sciences and Earth Sciences.

The candidates will be selected through a two stage process which includes shortlisting of candidates through a Selection Committee and interview of candidates with apex level Committee. A prefix 'UGC' will be added to each of the posts and the selected candidates will be distinctively recognized as UGC-Assistant Professors, UGC-Associate Professors and UGC-Professors. The UGC-faculty will receive emoluments at par with those of the Central University along with other facilities like residential accommodation, etc. and competitive start-up grant for research.

The initial appointments at each and every level shall be for a period of five years. There is a provision for elevation to the next higher rank following the end of term or midterm appraisal of those occupying the position of the Assistant/ Associate Professor. The positions are tenable till the age of super annuation.

The objective of UGC- Faculty Recharge Programme is to induct exceptional candidates with notable record of research in interdisciplinary / frontier areas of science, who will spearhead internationally competitive research programmes along with their teaching responsibilities.

UGC is in all mood to coordinate with institutions under its umbrella for the placement of the successful candidates.
