University Grants Commission (UGC) on 21 July 2014 issued a letter instructing Delhi University and its colleges to “re-engage the ad-hoc teachers on the opening day of the academic session who fulfill the conditions laid down by the UGC and who were in place till the last working day of the previous academic session."

This instruction came after UGC noticed that the colleges of Delhi University were facing serious crisis with re-engaging the adhoc teachers. The crisis arrived in after Delhi University moved from FYUP to its earlier three year undergraduate programme and with the start up of the new academic session.

The new instruction by UGC was warmly welcomed by Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA). According to them, the re-engaging the teachers will help the teachers to get their dues left and will also help in the smooth running of the courses for the new session.
