UGC NET Examination December 2012: Plan of Exam

Read to find the details on the division of question papers, qualifying criteria and date for UGC NET examination December 2012

UGC NET Examination will be conducted on 30th December, 2012 (SUNDAY) in two separate sessions and will comprise of three papers.  While paper I will be general in nature and common for all 78 subjects; Paper II and Paper III will be subject specific. The papers will be Objective Type consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) as mentioned below in table:

Note: Visually Challenged candidates and Physically Challenged candidates who cannot write in their own hand-writing can apply for extra time and facility of scribe (Scribe would be a graduate in a subject other than that of the candidate). Such candidates can use these services by making prior request (at least one week before the date of UGC-NET) in writing to the Coordinator of the NET Coordinating University. However, no extra time and facility of scribe would be provided to other Persons with Disability (Physically Challenged) candidates.

Paper-I (Teaching/Research Aptitude) will consist of questions based on reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.  

Paper-II and Paper III will comprise of 50 and 75 objective type (MCQ) compulsory questions respectively of two marks each based on the subject selected by the candidate.

Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet will be provided along with the Test Booklet to the candidates to mark the responses for questions of Paper I, Paper II and Paper III. Since there is no negative marking for wrong answer, candidate should try to attempt all questions as required in each paper.

The candidates are required to obtain minimum marks separately– as mentioned below– in Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III to be considered for final preparation of result:

UGC will prepare two separate lists on the basis of minimum marks obtained by candidates qualifying for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship; and candidates qualifying for Lectureship only. However, the final qualifying criteria for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Lectureship both and Eligibility for Lectureship only will be decided by UGC before announcement of result.
