UGC has revised the qualifying criteria for UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) this year onwards. The statement issued by the Board on 14 July stated that only top 6% of the candidates appearing for the examination for all three papers will be declared qualified this year onwards.
Earlier, the percentage of qualifying candidates was top 15% of candidates in each subject and category. The qualification was based on the minimum required marks the candidates obtained in the specified category.
The public notice was issued by Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE), the exam conducting body of UGC-NET. UGC-NET examination determines the eligibility of the candidates for Assistant Professor or JRF positions in Indian Universities and colleges. The exam will be conducted on 05 November this year.
