The University Grants Commission created a job portal. The job portal came in as a boon for both willing candidates and the higher educational institutions.
The portal that has been created is a completely 'employment' dedicated web portal which will further help the students and the education institutes both for the cause.
The idea of having a portal is to help students create their own academic profile and bring them to the attention of potential employers.University Grants Commission primarily launched its job portal for the NEC and PhD qualified students.
Also, to note, this is a free of charge service launched by the Government of India to falicitate both the parties.
Apart from the employability point of view, universities and institutions, as employers, could also verify NET qualified candidates through the same platform.
The portal which has been created just a fort night back, has about 4,500 NET qualified candidates and 2,250 Ph.D. qualified candidates already registered.
However, from the employers’ perspective, the portal has not really picked up .In an attempt to popularize the portal, the UGC chairman asked Vice-Chancellors and Principals to assign an officer to register by logging on to the portal to receive alerts.
